The episode's title is a reference to both the Platinum Princess, Britney Britney's alter-ego, and the real-life musician she's based on, Britney Spears.
This is the first episode where Britney Britney sings, as she's never shown singing in the canon series.
When Mr. Bickles says that his dream is ruined after Ivan and others go with Britney Britney, Samuel Griffin asks Bickles in a deadpan tone how many dreams does that make, and Bickles answers 280 and counting. This is a reference to how many episodes of the Fairly OddParents there were within the 10 seasons, not counting the Oh Yeah! Cartoons shorts.
Futurama - The plot of this episode is a bit similar to the Futurama episode "Bendin' in the Wind". Both episodes involve the main character (Ivan and Bender) touring with famous musicians (Britney Britney and Beck) after meeting them and starting their music career.
Family Guy - At one point, Timmy wonders if his sister, Timantha, is gonna start a music career and make a one-hit wonder about buying rainbows, with Wanda denying it. This is a reference to the song "Gonna Buy Me a Rainbow" from the Family Guy episode "Don't Make Me Over", in which Tara Strong, Timmy and Timantha's voice actress, took over for Mila Kunis as Meg's singing voice, as Mila claimed to be a poor singer.
The Simpsons - When talking to Britney Britney, Ivan asks if his music career with her is gonna involve subliminal messages to get her fans to join the U.S. Army, something like "Ymra eht nioj", with Britney saying while she wouldn't mind doing that just to get some fans off her back, she thinks it's a bad idea. This is a reference to the Simpsons episode "New Kids on the Blecch", where Bart's boy band, Party Posse, writes a song "Drop Da Bomb", which contains the lyrics "Yvan eht nioj", which is actually "Join the Navy" spelled backwards, as a subliminal recruiting message by L.T. Smash to get people to join the Navy.
Zoey 101 - Timmy asked Britney that if anyone in her family also had a popular career and Britney responds that her younger sister, Jenny Lynn Britney had in a TV show, a reference to both Britney Spears' younger sister, Jamie Lynn Spears and the comedy-drama TeenNick series, Zoey 101.
Phil Collins - Chester mentions Gil Mollins, a British musician who was a drummer in a band before he went on to start his solo music career. Gil Mollins is a parody of Phil Collins, whose music career started as being a drummer in the band Genesis (and eventually the lead singer after Peter Gabriel left the band) before he started his solo music career.
