- Sid Smeckledorf is a parody of Fred Figglehorn, a fictional character who's the star of a famous YouTube web series simply known as Fred, created by Lucas Cruikshank, who also plays the titular character. The web show became very popular and got 3 movies, along with a TV show on Nickelodeon, all of which were poorly received.
- Sid's second name, Smeckledorf, is taken from the line "We've been smeckledorfed!", said by SpongeBob in the SpongeBob SquarePants episode "Nasty Patty".
