The episode also reveals that Sheldon's wife, Miriam, died from depression after her husband, and was thrown into the water instead of being buried in the cemetery. A retirement home was built and named in honor of Miriam.
This episode brings closure to Daran's hatred of Dinkleberg.
The Simpsons - As Timmy takes Sheldon away to another retirement home, Sheldon tells Daran coldly and quietly that he's "the worst human being I have ever met", with Daran replying "Hey, I got off pretty easy.", similar to how Flanders told Homer off in the Simpsons episode "Hurricane Neddy".
Moments before Sheldon and Daran briefly start fighting, Sheldon does a long speech, mentioning some bad things that Daran did to his son and finishing off by saying that he's what's wrong with America, similar to Frank Grimes telling Homer off in the episode "Homer's Enemy".
At the end of the episode, when Timmy calls his dad out on the negative attitude towards the Dinklebergs, Daran replies "Well, excuse me for having enormous flaws that I don't work on!", a reference to the episode "Ice Cream of Margie (with the Light Blue Hair)", where Homer utters the line after Marge scolds him for smashing her popsicle stick statues with his ice cream truck.
